In July 2024, Buster's was awarded $3,000 to aide in our response to housing pets evacuated from their homes during the Park Fire. These funds were used to purchase new batteries for our Winnebago to house over 40 cats, provide supplies for guinea pigs and a tortoise housed with us, and commercial fans and cooling supplies to keep the dogs comfortable in the 100 plus degree weather. Additionally, Petco Love donated disaster response crates, collars, and leashes for 50 dogs which can be used to distribute in our community for disasters and personal emergencies.
Buster's Paw Prints is a proud recipient of a $5,000 grant for Overall Effort in the 2024 Maddie's Fund Open Arms Challenge for our work at the PATH Navigation Center in April 2024 in preparation for their opening. Maddie's Fund® is a family foundation established in 1994 by Dave and Cheryl Duffield and is the fulfillment of a promise to an inspirational dog, Maddie. She provided them much joy for over ten years and continues to inspire them today. The Foundation has awarded over $287.5 million in grants toward increased community collaborations and live outcomes, pioneering shelter medicine education and establishing foster care as a standard across the U.S. Maddie’s Fund proudly offers the industry a national voice, important funding opportunities for bold ideas, learning resources and access to collaborate and share innovative solutions. The Foundation invests its resources in a commitment to keeping pets and people together, creating a safety net of care for animals in need and operating within a culture of inclusiveness and humility. #ThanksToMaddie.
